Dubai has teamed up with Decentraland to create a virtual shopping center, known as the Mall of the Metaverse. The mall will cater to visitors who are interested in digital experiences, offering a range of retail, entertainment, and leisure options.

The project was announced at the World Government Summit and is part of Dubai’s push to establish itself on Web3. The Mall of the Metaverse will be based on the popular mall chain, Majid Al Futtaim, and feature top brands like Carrefour, Samsung Store, VOX Cinemas, Ghawali, and THAT Concept Store.

The virtual mall is currently in the development phase, with the team conducting tests to determine what potential customers may want and expect from the mall. The CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Asset Management expects the mall to be a significant attraction for customers seeking digital experiences from their favorite brands. The UAE’s Metaverse strategy aims to create over 40,000 virtual jobs and add over $4 billion to the economy by 2028.
