GXRLS Revolution: Empowering Female Artists in the Crypto-Art World. Gender narrative getting into crypto – another adoption sign

EthCC Paris saw a remarkable side event, the GXRLS Revolution, showcasing the collective’s mission to amplify the visibility of female artists in the crypto-art ecosystem. Comprising 100 female artists, GXRLS Revolution’s second event featured 25 artists from around the world, presenting a diverse range of digital art.

The collective’s objective extends beyond exhibition; they collaborate with artists to increase the value of their work and assist them in landing in collectors’ portfolios. In the first exhibition, they saw over 400 registrations and approximately 9 Ether in sales. The second edition has already surpassed these figures, with 1200 registrations and three artworks sold even before the exhibition’s commencement.

Co-founders Annelise Stern and JessyJeane initiated this project due to the noticeable lack of female representation in Parisian exhibitions. The project evolved into a comprehensive 280-page catalog, offering essential context on women’s position in the art world. Three curators, Joséphine Louis, Léa Duham, and Marie-Odile Falais, were invited to contribute, adding diverse perspectives to the representation of digital art.

Web3 technology enables GXRLS Revolution to showcase 25 artists who have never met, hailing from different corners of the world and at various stages of their careers. The current exhibition, titled WAGMI, features well-known figures in the digital art space alongside emerging talents.

GXRLS Revolution goes beyond mere showcasing; they aim to collaborate with artists to enhance the value of their work and ensure it finds a place in collectors’ portfolios. The collective enjoys support from prominent figures such as art collector Jean-Michel Pailhon and Dan Polko, the holder of 100 CryptoPunks.

Among the showcased artists is AlohaLeila, who employs symmetry to “put an order in the chaos of images and memories.” Marine Blehaut, a multidisciplinary artist, works with video and explores NFTs for her projects, delving into themes like fragments, memory, and repressed memories.

The collective’s future looks promising, with a planned exhibition for the fall featuring 25 new artists from the catalog. GXRLS Revolution continues to pave the way for gender equality and diversity in the digital art world.
