Google stepping up with their AI game and Gemini, take a note of this, it’s probably very important

Google seems to be gearing up for a showdown with OpenAI’s GPT-4 using its AI creation, Gemini. As reported by The Information, Google’s DeepMind AI division is currently offering select companies early access to Gemini, a sizable language model designed to function as a chatbot and generate original text and code based on prompts, much like GPT-4.

The exact cost of developing Gemini remains unknown, but it’s likely to be a significant investment, potentially in the hundreds of millions of dollars. To put it in perspective, creating GPT-4 reportedly cost OpenAI over $100 million.

While Google is already providing developers access to a substantial version of Gemini, a more formidable version is in the works, poised to directly rival GPT-4. This AI software will eventually be accessible to companies through Google’s Cloud Vertex AI service.

Google has been actively integrating generative AI into various products, demonstrating its commitment to this technology. Recently, DeepMind and Google Cloud unveiled SynthID, an AI tool designed to watermark AI-generated images, aiming to combat misinformation and copyright issues.

In another move, Google introduced generative AI to its Search tool in India and Japan, allowing text and visual results based on user prompts. This feature was initially launched in the United States.

Furthermore, reports suggest that Google has been testing an internal AI tool named ScaleAI, capable of providing “life coaching advice” and performing at least 21 other tasks. However, it’s unclear if this tool will ever become publicly available.

Google has also made its AI-powered tools accessible to enterprise customers for a monthly fee of $30 per user, expanding the reach of AI technology in various sectors. The competition between Gemini and GPT-4 promises to be an exciting development in the world of AI.
