Warner Bros Home Entertainment has made history by launching its newest superhero film, The Flash, as a blockchain-based experience. The Flash Web3 Movie Experience is the first new release movie to be offered on the blockchain while being distributed through traditional channels.
Through WB Movieverse, an online platform that hosts Warner Bros’ web3 catalog, viewers can now access The Flash Web3 Movie Experience. Developed in partnership with Eluvio, a content blockchain pioneer, the experience offers a multimedia NFT that fans can own. Viewers can collect key art, discover digital easter eggs, and uncover hidden augmented reality (AR) collectibles within the movie.
Owners of the NFT will also have the ability to sell the web3 movie in a community marketplace starting from August 1, 2023. This interactive experience allows viewers to actively participate in the movie by finding hidden clues to assist The Flash throughout different parts of the film. Additionally, each purchase will include a randomly assigned key art featuring The Flash and other characters from the movie.
The Flash Web3 Movie Experience represents a new immersive digital sell-through experience for 4K films and premium video assets. It leverages secure blockchain access and ownership on the Eluvio Content Fabric, providing a unique and engaging way for fans to experience and own the movie.
1This move by Warner Bros signifies the growing adoption of blockchain technology in the entertainment industry and highlights the potential for new and innovative ways to distribute and experience content.
