Filmmaker Sherone Rabinovitz has released a tantalizing four-minute trailer for his upcoming documentary on CryptoPunks, the iconic NFT collection. The trailer offers a glimpse into the eventful five-year journey of CryptoPunks, with a particular focus on Beeple’s upcoming CryptoPunks party.
The trailer includes a four-minute segment from Rabinovitz’s 2018 interview with the original creators of CryptoPunks, John Watkinson and Matt Hall of Larva Labs. It also explores the transition of the project’s intellectual property rights to Yuga Labs, the creators of Bored Ape Yacht Club, in 2022.
Viewers can expect to uncover crucial aspects of CryptoPunks’ rise both before and after the IP takeover. This includes the project’s role during the NFT art frenzy of 2021, unique features that have increased demand, and engagements with celebrities, auction houses, collaborations, and spinoff ventures.
Rabinovitz’s documentary is still awaiting an official release date. It comes at a time when enthusiasm for NFT content has waned, leading to postponements of projects like Coinbase’s Bored Ape movie and the World of Women’s storytelling collaboration with Reese Witherspoon.
However, the floor price of CryptoPunks has remained stable since April of the previous year, with a substantial floor price of $75,000 (45.19 ETH). Recent sales, such as Punk #1101, which sold for $100,072 (58 ETH), demonstrate the enduring appeal of these collectibles.
Stay tuned for the release of Rabinovitz’s documentary, which promises to provide an engaging narrative of CryptoPunks’ legacy.
