Starbucks is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its Pumpkin Spice Latte by introducing open-edition NFTs, known as “Digital Stamps.” These NFTs are available from October 5 to 9 through Starbucks’ Web3 loyalty program, “Starbucks Odyssey,” and are divided into four categories: Whipped, Spiced, Iced, and Steamed, each priced at $20.
NFT collectors who acquire these Digital Stamps will also receive 250 Odyssey points per Stamp, which can unlock both tangible and virtual rewards. Starbucks has teased an additional special treat for those who collect all four editions, with details yet to be revealed.
However, there’s a catch – the Starbucks Pumpkin Latte NFTs are exclusively available to Odyssey members, and the CryptoArt associated with these Polygon collectibles won’t be revealed until after purchase on October 10.
Starbucks first introduced its Odyssey rewards system in partnership with the NFT marketplace Nifty Gateway in 2022, with a beta version launching in December. Odyssey aims to provide Starbucks customers with additional benefits beyond traditional food and beverages. So far, Digital Stamps from Starbucks have unlocked exclusive experiences, including digital coffee classes and trips to its coffee farm in Costa Rica.
Starbucks has seen success in the Web3 space, distributing free NFTs to Odyssey members in December, with some Digital Stamps reselling for as much as $1,900 each on secondary marketplaces. In March, the company also released premium NFT Stamps for $100 each, which were quickly purchased by coffee and NFT enthusiasts.
By blending the appeal of coffee with NFTs, Starbucks is aligning with evolving consumer purchasing habits and emphasizing the importance of customer appreciation in the modern era.
