London Business School’s Wheeler Institute receives $1 Million Donation for Blockchain Research and Education

London Business School’s Wheeler Institute for Business and Development is poised to benefit significantly from a generous donation of $1 million from Sui, a Layer 1 blockchain. The donation is earmarked to foster extensive research and education in decentralized computing, with the goal of equipping the next generation of developers and business leaders with expertise in Web3.

Sui’s contribution is designed to support multiple initiatives at the intersection of business technology and blockchain. The funds aim to enhance the Wheeler Institute’s capabilities in research and teaching, focusing on areas such as fintech, automation, payment systems, and blockchain technology.

Dr. Greg Siourounis, Managing Director of the Sui Foundation, emphasized the importance of preparing the next generation with advanced technological skills to effectively address global challenges. He stated, “Sui is pleased to endow London Business School to give more young leaders access to the tools required for them to implement lasting positive change on a global scale.”

The impact of Sui’s donation is recognized by Dean François Ortalo-Magné of LBS, who appreciates the foundation’s generous gift. He noted, “The research activities that will be funded by their gift have a multiplier effect that empowers generations of future leaders to address global challenges in entirely new ways.”

In addition to the donation to the Wheeler Institute, the Sui Foundation has committed $225,000 in research grants to nine universities globally through the Sui Academic Research Awards (SARAs). Furthermore, Sui has collaborated with Costeas-Geitonas School in Greece to introduce a Web3 curriculum named “Blockchain and Business Innovation,” designed specifically for high school students.

Sui operates as a blockchain platform providing fast, private, secure, and inclusive digital asset ownership. It utilizes an object-centric model for parallel execution of transactions, achieving sub-second finality. London Business School is renowned for its global impact on business practices and commitment to research excellence, offering executive programs and degree courses to business professionals worldwide.

The focus of Sui’s funding on research and education in decentralized computing aligns with the development goals in the Web3 domain. The substantial support for blockchain and fintech at the Wheeler Institute reflects this commitment, aiming to prepare the next generation for the evolving technological landscape and fostering global blockchain expertise, starting with the Wheeler Institute and London Business School.
