Just a fortnight after a CryptoPunks NFT fetched a staggering $16 million, history repeated itself as another punk sold for the same eye-popping sum.
This time, it was Punk #7084 commanding the hefty price tag of $16.42 million on Wednesday, marking it as one of the prized blueish-skinned alien punks among the collection’s most sought-after pieces. The transaction narrowly surpassed another alien punk sale earlier in the month, making it the second-largest CryptoPunk sale to date.

Reportedly, the sale occurred directly between the buyer and the seller, with no intermediary involved.
The seller, identified as Peruggia on X, expressed feeling like an impostor holding onto punk #7084 without giving it the recognition it deserved. “After over a year of looking around, I feel I’ve found the right buyer with the right vision to appropriately elevate this asset,” Peruggia remarked. Notably, Peruggia reaps a substantial windfall, having originally acquired the NFT for $7.57 million back in 2021.
