Activision Blizzard powerhouse leader is joining Bored Apes’ Yuga Labs as their new CEO, is this a big deal?

Activision Blizzard’s outgoing president and COO have been named as Yuga Labs’ new CEO. Activision Blizzard’s current Chief Operating Officer, Daniel Alegre, intends to join Yuga Labs the following year.

Alegre left the holding company for video game developer Activision Blizzard, according to a filing dated December 16th, 2022. Just two weeks before this news, the FTC launched a lawsuit to stop Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard on antitrust grounds.

Yuga Labs anticipates new leadership
The well-known NFT collections Yuga Labs, which also houses CryptoPunks and Bored Ape Yacht Club, expressed interest in this change in leadership. Daniel has held one of the highest level positions at one of the biggest gaming businesses in the world, according to Wylie Aronow, cofounder of Yuga Labs. He has great experience in the areas of entertainment, e-commerce, and international strategic alliances, all of which are essential components of an immersive web3 world created by and for creators, says Wylie.

The CEO of Activision Blizzard has been appointed to lead Yuga Labs, but the appointment is not immediate. Alegre is slated to succeed Nicole Muniz as Yuga Labs’ current CEO. Muniz will then continue to serve as Yuga Labs’ partner and strategic adviser.

The leadership transition will finally take place in 2023. The precise day hasn’t been given, though.
